"This is the same setting as the scene at sunset (Sunset at Kastellorizo, Greece) that is in our bathroom. It was the island where Linda and I saw the 2006 eclipse, 3 miles from Turkey. I concentrated on the lighting. My father didn’t much like the painting, but he was never complimentary of my work. When I asked him why he didn’t care for the painting, he said he wasn’t really sure, but didn’t like the guy in the glasses in the foreground. Because of that, I’ve never seen the painting quite the same way as before, even though this is not a significant aspect of the work."
