This piece was created using a chalk technique called trois crayons, which involves only three colors: red, black, and white, applied to colored paper. Trois crayons allows for a range of tonal values and textures, producing rich, expressive sketches with a limited palette. Traditionally used in figure drawing and portraiture, this method emphasizes contrasts and depth while maintaining a simple, elegant aesthetic. The work was completed in 2003.
